When a municipality opts to implement smart city technologies, it typically entails a procurement process. This involves the municipality issuing a tender, and inviting organizations and companies to participate. Waag Futurelab has meticulously mapped out this tender process and is currently exploring opportunities for citizen involvement at various stages.

Workshop Participatory Procurement at Waag Futurelab

During this workshop, which took place on January 16th, we shared initial findings and, in collaboration with participants, sought to identify best practices, tips, and tools for enhancing citizen engagement throughout the procurement process. Waag Futurelab will host another workshop at AMS Institute’s Scientific Conference on ‘Reinventing the City’ and will later present the findings in a comprehensive research report.
